Description: | DEPARTMENT ![]() Department: South Texas Engineering ![]() JOB DESCRIPTION ![]() Engineer IV (Texas City, TX), Texas-New Mexico Power Company: Review all major outages and potential errors, and produce the monthly reliability report for distribution and transmission outages. Review and analyze electrical engineering plans and diagrams to ensure systems efficiency, overall performance standards and reliability. Provide systems studies and protective relaying supports. Provide advanced engineering and project management expertise associated with ground grid design, relay coordination, load flow, short circuit motor starting, transient stability and arc flash evaluation studies, and apply engineering application to human machine interface systems to complete engineering tasks. Provide direction to improve the reliability of subtransmission and transmission electrical facilities, and design of electrical substation automation under IEC 61850. Lead or conduct performance, cost and scheduling studies/evaluations that require advanced and innovative techniques and/or the modifications of standard practices and precepts. Calculate and program substation protective relay points for microprocessor relays. Utilize digital communication systems to communicate engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations. Requirements: A Master¿s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 1 year of experience in the job or as an Electrical Engineer. Experience must include reliability engineering specifically in the area of substation and transmission reliability, and experience working with large consulting firms in the power industry and large industrial users, and must also have experience with or have researched IEC 61850 substation automation. |
